Occupied Territories (Territorios ocupados)
A single stroke in space captures an action and activates memory, holding within it the potential for entirely new worlds. Following the Cosmos project (2012), Territorios ocupados shifts its focus toward the notion of limits, exploring the invisible spatial bonds that connect all things.
Borrowing from the mathematical concept where a limit represents a continuous approximation toward a point never fully reached, this body of work examines the tension at the threshold of these boundaries. Through structured lines and overlapping chromatic frequencies, the pieces interact dynamically with their surroundings. Color, movement, and texture confront one another, creating an optical phenomenon where each element is constantly redefined by what surrounds it.
This interaction occurs within an intangible realm: the "void" between boundaries. Far from being an empty absence, this space acts as a vital site for sensory dialogue, transforming raw perception into emotion. Rather than isolated objects, the artworks are designed to coexist, shifting their meaning based on their spatial arrangement and proximity to one another.
Ultimately, Territorios ocupados renders the invisible visible. It operates on the principle that just as silence gives meaning to music, it is the void that gives ultimate meaning to painting.
